Soft Cells have been used to create a ceiling system at the 21,000 square-metre building, which was rebuilt in 2011. OMA, the architects, chose Soft Cells panels as they come in bespoke sizes, offer full accessibility and seamlessly integrate alongside other complex, high quality finishes.
The building unites all of the investment company’s London staff in one location for the first time in decades. It comprises a central cube of ten efficient and flexible open-plan office floors, which affords views over the City. This cube is linked to four adjoining annexes, with meeting rooms, enclosed offices, vertical circulation, reception areas, and a staff café and gym. The top of this central cube features a landscaped roof garden with outdoor meeting areas.
‘For the dining and meeting rooms, we decided to use Kvadrat Soft Cells and to back-light some of them to give a warmer atmosphere to the rooms. This was an innovative use of the panels; the Kvadrat team provided us with knowledgeable and professional support throughout the design process, from testing mock-up panels to solving installation problems. They offered excellent advice and significantly contributed to the design decision-making, helping us achieve an outstanding result. We would be pleased to continue working with Soft Cells in the future’.
Elisa Simonetti, Senior Architect, OMA
The architectural support team worked very closely with the design team and contractors to create a completely accessible ceiling system. This comprises a total of 700 Soft Cells Broadline panels.
